A new revelation from a classic hymn..
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

The Grace Card: Study Scene
If you'll recall, not too long ago I mentioned The Grace Card in my blog; now that I've had a chance to watch it I would like to add my comments .. Although the storyline is racially driven to break down barriers in the inner-city, it also presents a powerful message of forgiveness and the power of God to use Christians no matter where they are-in the workplace, in the mission field. We are here to be a light in the darkness.
For that matter, the film also sheds light on the importance of fathers and the power they have to build up or breakdown their children. This and many more lessons were highlighted in the following blog entitled Ten leadership lessons from the grace card (http://briandoddonleadership.com/2011/02/26/10-leadership-lessons-from-the-grace-card/ ) I would encourage everyone to check it out as well as rent the movie and see it for themselves . You won't regret it; it might even change your life!

Encouragement Facing the Giants - Bloom Where You're Planted
One of my many favorite scenes from Facing the Giants. It really illustrates what God can do if you're ready and willing to let God move through your life. Never underestimate the power of God to do great things.

Open Dialogue
As I'm sure you guys have noticed, I haven't been writing with the same zeal that I had after my surgery. The same feelings I had are beginning to make their way back in my life and I am beginning to wonder whether I was blaming the medication because it was easier to do that than to face the deeper issues. Anyway, I am still struggling to find the truth behind these questions. As a result, you can imagine how difficult praying has become for me lately. Don't get me wrong, I know God will listen to me, no matter what I say to him because God not only cares for me but He wants the best for me. A good friend once told me," just keep the dialogue open, He just wants to hear from you." That's such good advice, however. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to say to Him. That being said, I keep my eyes on them promise of Jeremiah 29:11, which says: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (NIV)
This is a promise from the Lord himself to every Christian living in today's uncertain times: in light of Virginia's recent earthquake, it's a message. I will continue to cling to.. Because in the end, my friend, that's all we have!
I came across this blog while trying to figure out what to say about prayer because that was the topic on my heart today. Originally it was going to be verses on prayer but as you can see it turned out to be something completely different. Anyway, the blog belongs to the cast of Courageous, a movie that hopes to bring new honor when it comes to being a Christian father in today's society. In short, the website will be spending the next 30 days not only praying for movie, but asking others to join them in praying courageously for a change..
