Switched at Birth New Show on ABC Family Where the Deaf Take Center Stage

Okay~

So the ABC Family show Switched At Birth isn't really that new, considering I've been gone a few weeks. But that's for another post.

Although the Switched At Birth storyline seems like one snatched from the headlines, it presents a interesting platform where the deaf community takes center stage. According to the ABC Family website, "Bay Kennish grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother, while Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age due to a case of meningitis, grew up with a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls"

Most recently, the debate between cohlear implants and accepting one's disability became an issue.
