Radio show host Delilah's philosophy: Touching "One Heart at a time"

I'm not sure whether I've ever mentioned the Delilah show on Wash FM on here before or not. But I'm going to again if I haven't. I've been listening to her show on and off for as long as I can remember; as a matter of fact, I rekindled my love for the show soon after I got my first Amazon Echo and I realized I could listen to her on I Heart Radio whenever I wanted. This woman is special in too many ways to count- not only does she have the unique ability to listen to someone's story on the radio and pick out a song to match, but she also has a heart for children with special needs and those that aren't easily adopted. After taking a hiatus to deal with a personal loss, she is back to inspire people with her story, music, and podcast. Her new book entitled "One Heart At a Time gives a more in-depth and personal look into her life and her philosophy of reaching one person at a time.

She also has a new podcast entitled "Conversations With Delilah" where she invites friends and authors to have a open and authentic conversation about their books and life in general. Within each conversation, she hopes audiences take away something- a little piece of hope and inspiration for the future. In her most recent podcast with Rory Feek, the two share how you don't really learn to get over a loss, you just move on knowing that they are always with you.

Ever wanted to be a superhero as a kid? For one boy, his dream comes true with a little help from some friends...

I came across this story a few weeks ago, but it didn't come to light until a few days ago. As many of you know, the Make-A-Wish foundation is known for making kids with terminal illnesses dreams come true.. But for one little boy dream, they needed a little help. You see, all of his life Miles has been battling leukemia like his favorite superhero Batman. So it seems fitting that he would want to be a superhero in real life. As part of the effort, thousands of people in San Francisco took part in scenarios where he got to rescue people in distress and battle the "Riddler"

It's not very often that we see goodwill in action, but when we do, it's amazing to see!

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition started the new year out with a bang by featuring the story of Garrett Grommesh and his family. Garrett is confined to a wheelchair and found itt difficult to maneuver through his own home. So the crew took to the task of building them a carrier free household, but instead of tearing down the old house and starting fresh. Garrett decided he wanted to pay it forward by having his own home relocated and giving it to a close friend and her family-another family in need.

Pay It Forward

Hey Guys~

So it's official, I'm 29 today.. (Okay, so I realize I'm writing this post a couple days late!) I know I usually post on Monday, but I thought I would change things up a little. 29 years old, I can hardly believe it myself. Growing older, time seems to fly by; that's why I strive to maintain a sense of innocence in my life, remembering that life is a gift never taking it granted. However, it's so easy to get in a mode of living day to day forgetting what's truly important. But every once in a while God uses unexpected circumstances to remind us how connected we really are or should be as a society. Take for example the unexpected gift I received the night of my birthday. My family and I were celebrating at a nearby Japanese steakhouse and a stranger wished me a happy birthday. Come to find out later, that he had the for our family's meal. Isn't that amazing?
This unforgettable gift kind of reminds me of a movie that debuted in 2000 entitled Pay It Forward. This movie starring Kevin Spacey, Haley Joel Osment and Helen Hunt really says something about how we are connected with each other as a people as well as individuals. Too often, the focus is on ourselves when it should be on other people. We forget that we are all in this together. Granted, I will never know the reason why a complete stranger paid for our food, but even with that small gesture he caused me to stop, remember my purpose and why I am here, and move on with a renewed sense of self.

We all have a chance to make an impact; but what will we do with it?
